Maggi has been working with clay for over twenty years. She learnt in Hong Kong and was greatly influenced by Chinese and Japanese pottery, and specialised in containers for Ikebana, japanese flower arranging.
The family moved to Canada in 1991, and Maggi was accepted as a student to Emily Carr Institute of Art & Design, fulfilling a life time ambition to attend art school. Something not considered suitable as a career by her parents! She graduated in 2000, with a Diploma in Fine Arts, majoring in ceramics and sculpture. During this time her work drastically changed from organic landscape bowls and vessels in muted greens and blues to her current line of 'Contemporary Victoriania'.
The years at Emily Carr were a golden opportunity to explore, research and discover the fascinating world and history of art and ceramics |
